meanwhile, enjoying slacking at home.
argh, need to unpack. oh the horror, the mess, the overflowing clothes yet limited space in the cupboard. HOW?
i need to join a flea market.
I'll be going home much earlier than expected~~
Because China doesn't allow us to extend our visa, I need to return before my 180days are up. Therefore, no more 7 months of internship, I'll need to be back by 26 NOVVVVV!
I should be returning on the 25 Nov, so looking forward to
Thanks to China’s national day on Oct 1, which is also my close friend’s birthday haha, we had a long break till Oct 8. The initial plan was to go Beijing, and then we were thinking eh a bit expensive ah, might as well go somewhere more exotic that we would not have gone if we’re not in China. More worth the money. So we researched on Tibet but to our disappointment, because it was too last minute we couldn’t apply for the visa. So omfg, need to find backup plan. Then TADAAAA Mongolia came to our mind. After searching for all the tour sites, we found a package that goes to both Beijing and Inner Mongolia. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. So we’re happy! Ok at least I am.
Anyway we departed for our little trip in the morning of Oct 1. We were so kiasu we reached the airport 3.5hrs before our flight because our local colleague told us it’s gonna be so very jam on the road. But we were so heng, the road was super smooth that day. End up with nothing to do at the airport, can only rot till we go up the plane. Then we had to slack somemore when the flight attendant told us that the flight has been delayed for 2hrs due to the parade at Beijing.
When we reached Beijing, we were once again rejected by the budget hotel because we are not local Chinese. So the tour agency had to find another hotel in the area and it was a blessing in disguise, we were upgraded to a 4 star hotel opposite to it. LUCKY!
First day:
We had to gather at 6.30am. Our first stop was at a shopping place, 玉麒麟. The place sells jade and we were introduced to a mythical creature 貔貅, which is the 9th son of the Dragon King and is well-known for its love of precious gems and also the lack of an asshole. So it can 招财进宝, can only go in but can’t come out. Quite interesting, haha.
( Hello Emperors and Empresses )
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
even though you're growing older each day and dont look as pretty as you were 21 years ago, i still love you as much as i did.
HAHAHAHA

i'm jealous that you all went to eat at T3 while i had the same roadside stall for dinner, which i've been eating for the past 2 days.
but it's ok, just remind daddy that he has to bring me for supper to eat char kway tiao at blk 85 market when i go back to singapore.
see you, my dearest family, in another 79 days!
<3<3
Beijing was an amazing place, China is so full of history and many mysteries.
It felt so weird to walk down the paths which the emperors and empresses took. To see, to walk in and to feel some of the artifacts left behind by the people from the far away past. We listened to stories that tell of the rise and fall of the dynasties, we explored and looked at photos of the life of the last emperor of China, Pu Yi. We marveled at the bravery of some and cringe at the evil and weakness of others.
Maybe I should’ve find out more about China before I went for the trip, maybe then I would’ve appreciated it even more and not felt so lost at the overload of information.
However, this trip really makes me feel curious, curious to find out whether my ancestors did anything to contribute to the great history of China, am I the descendant of anyone famous?
If only I can turn back time, back to the time where I don’t exist, where all the great and interesting stories happened. If only I can be there to witness, to experience the whole journey of the beginning and the end of the imperial state.
Inner Mongolia was fun too but compared to Beijing, it was more of a relax tour. We spent most of the time traveling from one place to another. And I totally didn't know Dowager Tzu Hsi used to be from there too.
Planning to get a book about her because I find her so interesting and totally admire her guts and wit. Despite not being the legitimate Empress she still managed to get power and got in "control" of the empire, she must definitely be of great intelligence. In comparison, the last few emperors of the Qing dynasty seemed so weak.
Anyway I took almost 700 photos for the whole trip, will blog more about the trip/upload the photos when I don't feel so lazy.
i'll be back on 7th oct.
happy 60th birthday, china.
all thanks to you i can have 8 days break, i'm so happy :):)
